2nd time and disappointed. Hostess was nice and looked sexy. Table was dirty. Waitress was prompt initially and took our drink order...also had a great ass. 1st app came out (Scottish eggs) without napkins, drinks or silverware. Tasted good but dinnerware would have been nice. 10 mins later we were given our 2nd app, my soup and finally some plates. Still no silverware. Plates were dirty. Not just dirty but really dirty. Our waitress wasn't to be found so I found a new one in the bar. She took the plates back and apologized. Food came but was wrong for half of us. Wrong sides and again, no utensils. Food was very bland but my daughter liked the shells and cheese. Everything else...not worth the trip. $100 for the family to have lunch and a poor lunch at best. Denny's has better service and food but the tap house is good for visuals.

I have now been to this restaurant three (3) times.. I feel like I can sufficiently give this place an honest review. 1st visit: Lunch: restaurant was more than 1/2 empty and received mediocre service. Had to wait an abnormal amount of time for service and BLT salad was mostly lettuce and not much more. Would definitely not order this again. 2nd Visit: Happy Hour/Early Dinner on Saturday afternoon: Good Service in the bar. Had appetizers: mussels and garlic sausage bites. Both great appetizers. Server was very slow on drinks and seem to be overbooked on her tables. All in all, good visit. 3rd Visit: Booked a table at 11:00 the same day for a table of 15 @ 3:00. Spoke to manager M**** on the phone, very friendly. Said it would be no problem, come on in. Arrived around 2:30, hostess seemed to know NOTHING about our reservation. No biggie, spoke to the manager and he "remembered". The party was a group of women, whom I told the server from the get-go would be arriving at different times. He seemed very put out by us as if we were a bother to him. The service was very SLOW and the drink orders slower. After being embarrassed, I went OUTSIDE the room we were in, to speak to the manager, M*****. After a little discussion, he informed me that had I made the reservation a day or so in advance, maybe we wouldn't be having the problem. On one hand, I can understand this excuse...however the restaurant was at least 1/2 empty. He then proceeded to tell me that the server was usually very good but that he was overbooked. Again, restaurant...1/2 empty. In addition, I ordered a flight of beer and server couldn't remember which beer was what. How are you supposed to try different beers when the server/bartender cannot mark what you are drinking? The service continued to be slow without the server being concerned or apologetic whatsoever. I was really surprised that the manager made excuse after excuse with hardly any apology at all. He did ask, "what can I do for you to make this better?" ,but he offered nothing, hardly an apology but a promise of better service which we never received. We weren't looking for comp'd meals or drinks. We were just looking for better service and the promise that it WOULD be better. However, after we spoke to the manager, M******, the service was NOT better. Two (2) other women in our party also complained to the manager and the same excuses were given. On the positive side, the cheese plate was surprisingly good. I was embarrassed in front of a large group of women (most of them professionals, who would have tipped very well) that I had recommended and arranged this event for them. It really was humiliating. You lost my business, my family's and 15+ others today. How this restaurant plans to stay in business, I will never know. The mediocre/good food does not compensate for the horrible service and management.

Mediocre at best. Hostess sat my wife and I down right away with our reservation. She however placed 2 extra menus on our table. We didn't think much of it until our server all but ignored us for 20 minutes thinking we were waiting for another party. Strike one. Our server was fine once he realized the mistake. We ordered onion rings for an app and they were decent. I ordered the steak Frite and my wife ordered the margarita pizza. The pizza came out soggy and dripping with olive oil. Strike Two. I ordered my steak medium and it came out burnt (I also had to ask for a knife as none was provided with the steak). Strike three. I had high hopes for a nice place near our home in Apple Valley. I guess I'll keep looking. I only give it 2 stars instead of 1 because my wifes drink was really good and so were the onion rings.

I just returned home from visiting this restaurant for a beer and a bite while watching election results. If you're a beer guy, you'll appreciate the tap selections, solid, if not very creative. As for the food, um...I know this is the suburbs, but really guys, come on! I started with the Louisiana Peel & Eat Shrimp. They're whole shrimp, cracked up the back for easy peeling. Unfortunately, they were cooked too long, so it took considerable effort to peel the shrimp. The accompanying remoulade was tepid, for lack of a better word. Mayonaisse-y, with no real flavor. I quit about half way through the shrimp and opted for the Korean Chili Chicken Wings. Decent prep on the wings, a bit charred, but the peanut sauce, ugh! Gelatinous, fairly tasteless, and totally ruins any flavor that might come through with the wings. I'm pretty sure that it came out of a squeeze bottle, and if I was Asian in any spin of the word, I'd be extremely offended given the preparation. On a side note, if you Google Valley Tap House and click on the link that shows up, you'll be directed to the Lyndale Tap House, their sister/mother spot located in Uptown Minneapolis, guess they couldn't be bothered to build a separate page for the second location. Valley Tap House is located in a strip mall shopping center co-located with several other main stream chain restaurants, so if you were to line them up, the Valley is probably the most interesting and authentic. Still, you'd think they'd want to excel, rather than just tread water, which is what they're doing. I'm a big proponent of independent eateries, so I'm interested in seeing this place survive. AFTER paying my bill, I asked to see the manager. I told him the service was great, the tap list was great, but the food was sub-par. That was pretty much the end of the conversation. He gave me lip service and summarily dismissed me. I'm disappointed to say that I won't be returning.

The beer selection is fantastic. I love the fact that they take a lot of pride in the beer. The wait staff is attractive which is always a plus. The food is awesome. Specifically the foot long hot dog that I always order without a bun. Goddamn right I swallow that foot long in one bite. Will definitely be back time and time again. Highly recommend it!! I give it a 9 out of 10. Great happy hour deals as well.

As usual, my rating tends to be balanced based on location and what type of establisment it is. This is a "gastropub" in Apple Valley. Hmm...ok. I'm very familar with the Apple Valley of the '80s & '90s. Tons of chains, not much for what I'd consider good food. Valley Tap House is a step in the right direction. First off, the menu had numerous things that caught my eye. Good sign. Was with a group of three, we all ordered different sandwiches (pit or burger). I ordered the Cuban Pit which was very good, though I found myself wishing it had a little more spice. Portions were on the huge side. The fries that come with are pretty good too. The location itself is a bit lacking as it's packed into a big box/strip mall/IHOP ocean of blacktop, but at least there is ample parking. Restaurant is fairly large with an equally good sized bar. The outdoor patio has a matching bar as well. If I was still relegated to living in AV, I'd likely visit this place fairly often. Definitely a nice change of pace from the TGIFs of the world.

Was soo looking forward to trying the tap house for the first time.... Still waiting for that to happen. Arrived, at 6:40 pm and was seated... That's it left at 7:05. No service. The couple behind us sitting by the kitchen also said they had to look for a server. Funny that three were standing at the hostess stand. Made eye contact. Nothing... On the other side, the menu selection looked good, happy hour looked great, menus were a bit dirty.. But that's all for now. Maybe we will come back but the crooked pint will get our business a few times before then.... Ps. Although it is a tap house there is no reference to tap beers on their drink menu. Only bottles and cans... CHEERS

This place seems to be bit or miss. I have had awesome service, other times the service is less than adequate. The menu prices seem to be a bit high for the quality of the food. The happy hour is pretty good however. The patio is very relaxing during a summer afternoon.

If you are looking for beer or drinks, this is your place. Food, whole different story. We keep trying this place hoping we will find the right thing to order..so far salad is the only thing we have had that was worth going back for...so we just quit going back.

Great place to have cocktails and craft beers. The Thai egg roll appetizer was amazing. The sound system was good for the mood!

Went here for a lunch with the boss and some colleagues. They weren't busy, but that didn't stop the waitress from providing terrible service. She was slow to refill drinks, check on us, and take our order. She even gave us the wrong bill with other peoples credit card, and didn't notice for a good 6 or 7 minutes. Aside from terrible service, the food was mediocre at best. I had the cheddar chowder which was very bland, along with a caprese sandwich that was okay. It looked like they had some good happy hour specials, but I won't be back to find out.

This is actually more of a 3.5 star review for our initial experience. The hostess was decent enough and led us to a high table on the bar side. I'm fairly positive that Germany has less sausage; we were surrounded by the smell of Cool Water and constantly assaulted by the aggressive glare of shiny cross necklaces. I think I saw one snaggly, desperate looking older lady in the lurid man sea. For good measure, I bade her Godspeed. At first, we were approached by a young waitress who asked if she could take out order. We noted that we'd need a couple minutes and she said she'd return. She didn't. Some guy came up and asked us if we'd ordered; I, assuming that the girl was our waitress, said we were being waited on. Mistake. Thankfully, he came back and noted that he was our official waiter. A little confusing, but not a huge deal. We started out with the mussels in ale for an appetizer. The mussels were cooked well but the broth was exceptionally bitter and tasted as though it could've used more time rendering. I had no desire to use the bread to soak any of it up after the first couple of dips. The sausage that was in the dish was a welcome reprieve as it was somewhat sweet; its texture and taste balanced very nicely with the mussels. Overall, I don't think it's something I'd order again. I should also note that there were seven unopened mussels in our bowl. A little odd. My girlfriend ordered the steak salad. I can't even go any further before saying that she was in desperate love with everything about it; the dressing was herbaceous, the steak was tender and seasoned well and all the salad toppings worked great together. Highly recommended. I had the fried cod because I had been reading so many reviews about fried fish that I inadvertently started craving it. The fish was really nice--crispy, hot and cooked well--but the accompanying fries seemed a touch underdone. The roasted jalapeno tartar sauce was kickass, though, and so was the coleslaw. I will say, though, that it seemed slightly more than unkempt inside and outside--there were empty beer and wine bottles sitting in the planters by the entrance--and it looked like the place could use a scrub. But all in all, it was a pretty positive experience. The food was good and the two for one special was definitely something of which we took advantage. We'll be back to try some of the other offerings.

Review title: "My boo didn't like the biscuits" Brunch was ok. We were seated fast, food took a while... we ordered breakfast food at around 1:30pm. I had the slam and Joey had the biscuits and chicken. The french toast was too thick, bad choice of bread, the bacon was greasy and the home fries were smothered with onions and peppers. There was more peppers and onions than there was potatoes. The biscuits were hard and cold but the gravy taste great. Free mimosas when you order brunch. However, I would not recommend their brunch because they are obviously known for their burgers which looked mouth watering every time a server walked by.

The food selection at Valley Tap is by far unique and their portions do not disappoint. From the pit burger to the tap house salad to their breakfast burrito for Sunday brunch I've never left hungry. Plus their late night and happy hour specials are right on par. We go with our friends regularly during the day and as a late night get together. If you're hungry, in Apply Valley, and never been to Valley Tap, at it to the top of your list.

Don't be deterred by the amorphous bar. It's just distracting your eyes from the thirty or so taps for your drinking pleasure. Seriously, for a south suburban sports bar, this place is pretty decent. TV's galore and a beer selection that can cake on (and beat) many of its more well known neighbors. And, actually that bar is pretty cool. It has a couple of little spots where a group of 4 can sit at the bar, but everyone can see each other and have nice conversation.

I had really high hopes when they opened a couple years ago. South of the river could really use a classy gastro pub like Minneapolis and St Paul are teeming with. With all the upside in the world, the Tap took the low road and is just another raucous bar in the mode mode of Wild Bills. The beer list is better and the food is more interesting. I like the Thai Dragon. The atmosphere is wanting not that it matters much if the food is great, but it really doesn't get much better than fair to maybe just good. On the odder side of things, I will give them credit for being the first establishment I have been to where they allow the person running the microphone for "bargo " to drop the F-bomb several times and talk about flashing titties. Luckily my wife is not a prude and we considered the scene much like going to the zoo to watch the animals.

Came in on a Wednesday night - got seated, no one ever came to take an order. Also, the music was so loud, we couldn't even have a conversation. Walked out real fast. I'm not down that way much, in the way south metro, but I'll be avoiding this place next time I'm around.

I had to be in AV for a library event. I loved the BLT salad. The lettuce is shredded which is a nice change, so I'm not picking through pieces trying to find something green. The dressing was awesome, but it needed more. The smoked haddock chowder was good and served in a huge mug. It fit big chunks of potatoes that were easy enough to pull out. What drew me to here was that it's one of the few stand alone restaurants in a city of chains. I didn't feel like splurging on Enjoy. We want to come back for the pit specialties. It was right across the street from the library, and we had time to browse in B&N in the same mall. It's nice and icy inside on these hot days. Bradley is a way cool waiter, and ready with refills before you even ask.

I would have given this place 2.5 stars if I could but I can't do Half stars. The service was good. We were seated right away, and had our beverages quickly. The menu options were plenty. The atmosphere was casual, and comfortable. Our waitress was pleasant. The food was not good. I had ordered the Philly and the sandwich came out cold, and the meat was so full of fat that I could not eat it. First bite in, I had to actually take the meat out of my mouth with a napkin as it felt like I may have had a bone in the meat. The fries were tasty, and I enjoyed them. The waitress did remove my meal from the bill, and was very apologetic. I do appreciate that, and will try them again in the future because of that. Hopefully my next visit will taste better.

Overall: it was okay. The restaurants air was bad as the place was very hot. Also had a bunch of flys in the place. Gross. The food: I got the pit beef sandwich with fries. Pit beef was okay. Not super tender but not super tough. Was lacking in spices and flavor. Some flavor did come from the horseradish sauce, but only a little. The bun needed work as well as it tasted like a Walmart bun. Fries were good. Service was good. Bar was noisy, dining area was nice. It was an okay place, I won't miss it, but I wouldn't be mad going back.

Valley Tap House in NOT a very, very fine house You won't find two cats in the yard while dining at the Valley Tap House and you're definitely not going to find Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young either. What you will find if you're as lucky as my wife and I won't please you much and will probably make you not want to go back as well. Lets hope the owners get a chance to read this cause some changes need to be made..... and soon! This place is owned by the same folks that own the Lyndale Tap House where you'll find an excellent chef serving some outstanding food and yes there's a blog for that - It's PITastic!. The unfortunate thing at least on the day my wife and I decided to stop by is a poor reflection on the entire company and that's not good. As soon as we arrived, it was already going down hill and it's the type of stuff that managers should be able to take care of rather easily. As we arrived, the hostess had walked back to clear off a table on the patio so we could sit outside on one of the first beautiful days of the Spring season. After about 10 minutes going by and we see the hostess with an assortment of dishes and dropping them off at in the back kitchen. As she walked back to the host stand, she was immediately stopped by another patron with 4 separate checks in his hands asking for someone to help because his server seemed to have went missing (there was about 4 or 5 couples in the dining room so it shouldn't have been an issue). Finally, she brought us to our table and 15 - 20 minutes later with no one behind us OR waiting. My question - What exactly is her job? We'll get to the food, don't worry, but this stuff is important. As we approached our table on the patio, I felt like I was being sat next to their dumpster out back. Ever hear of a broom and about 10 minutes of some actual labor? Cigarette butts EVERYWHERE, food all over and right at our table alone, it looked like the trash compactor had a leak. How hard is it to sweep up the garbage before seating new guests or taking care of some of the other trash before you open? Time for some new management or workers that are willing to provide a good customer experience - isn't that what it's all about? I almost forgot, it doesn't look very professional if your hosts leave their cigarette packs out in the open on the host stand next to their cell phone and the company phone, just sayin'... Okay, lets talk about the food! Lets just say that the chef at the Valley Tap House could use some educational course compared to the chef and his culinary team at the Lyndale. NOT EVEN CLOSE! We saw a pretzel app go by that looked pretty good, but when we got our very own delivered to us, we were wishing we had chose something else. Pretzel? Nope! It was more like a stale bread stick with some salt on it. My wife ordered a Margarita and why do so many bars fail at making these things? Is it really that hard to make a good Margarita? Do we need to send bartenders down to Mexico for some schooling? Far too many times, when I ask my wife, "how's your drink?", she just shrugs her shoulders and says, "it is what it is!" Than she saw a guy at the table next to us with a Bloody and she said, "I should have gotten that!" Than the guy asked the server to return it to the bar because it sucked. So far so good, right!? On to our main meal that we had for lunch and hoping that it could salvage our dining experience. We ordered their Cashew Chicken Salad Sandwich. They CANNOT screw this up! Looked good as it was arriving to our table and thankfully, it wasn't half bad, BUT! Question to the owners if they're reading this - What's with all the onions and why did you forget to add the cashews? It said Cashew Chicken Salad, not Onion Salad Dressing and a little Chicken Sandwich. And another thing... I know you want to get the most out of your ingredients and food items, but do you really need to serve the bottom of the french fries bag? the longest fry was probably an inch if that and the majority of them were probably embarrassed to be called a french fry. So! Would I tell you to go to the Valley Tap House? Probably not. Would I tell you to instead go to the Lyndale Tap House? YES I WOULD! Until there is some sort of confirmation that they have made some MUCH needed changes to this restaurant, I wouldn't waste your money. I hate to see this happen, because I really like the Lyndale and the Valley is making them look bad and it's little things that are being over looked. You should have seen the silverware that their staff thought was suitable to provide.

Great happy hour prices on beers. Two craft beers for $6. Although not all beers are two for ones. The remaining are $1 off. The pretzels we ordered were more like breadsticks so those were disappointing.

How much $$ did they pay to have this HONEST review hidden??? 2 stars is generous. We go for the patio, is super nice with plenty of seating. The food is ok the drink prices are fair. We have gone 4-5 times now and the service is terrible. Every time it's terrible! We keep going back because the atmosphere is fun. But last week was the last straw. We were seated outside, it was busy but not full no one was hardly in the resturant. Once seated and 15 minutes had gone by I was ready to go, I flagged down a waiter, he said he wasent our waiter and would find our waitress. 10 minutes later he comes back to take our order and then the waitress shows up.... He kind of took care of us and never saw the waitress again..... We had to flag him down for everything we finally wanted to just leave and my girlfriend went and found him paid and said we won't come back again. It's too bad because the burbs need more places like

I've been wanting to stop in here since it opened, and I finally had a chance this past Sunday. The host staff was lazy at best, but the rest of the experience was great. Our server was extremely friendly so he made up for the inattentiveness when we first arrived. The beer list is very good, but I expected it to be much larger for a tap house. As a beer snob and craft beer fan, I can tell you that the selection is pretty decent. I would have liked to see more local beers on tap. My date and I both ordered from the section of the menu called "From the Pit". I ordered the Latin Pig and my date had the Buffalo Pork Pit. We both agreed that this was the best pork we've ever had. We barely talked while eating unless it was to say how good it was because we were so focused on the food. The buffalo sauce is made in house, and it was excellent. The mandarin habanero sauce on my sandwich was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I'm not sure if that one was made in house, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. The pork was obviously made fresh that day. The only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars was the crappy hostess service when we first arrived - she acted like it was an imposition to greet us and show us to a table. I will definitely go back, and I'll tell anyone who will listen that the best pork sandwiches in the Metro can be found in Apple Valley. They appeared to have a party room in the back so it's probably a good place for large groups as well.

The happy hour is excellent! 2 for 1's at $4.50/drink is a steal for me! There's a fun crowd, even in the snow and the servers were very friendly. I was there to catch up with an old friend and it was easy to hear each other without feeling like the place was empty. I would definitely come back for an actual meal sometime!

I have eaten here many times as I live close by. The food is uniquely delicious, always prepared to order and they use flavors and spice choices that I won't think of at home. Wait staff is generally very good and I really hope this place stays for a while.

I always say that good service can make a good meal great and bad service can make a great meal taste bland. With that being said the meal I experienced tonight was very tasty in spite of the poor service we received. I started off with some buffalo wings which were nicely charred on the grill. They are some of the better wings in the area and thus I recommend them. I also ordered a Georgia pork sandwich which was massive! The tasty combination of the mustard style sauce with the sweet peach slaw was a pleasant surprise. Great fries come with the sandwiches too. The fries that accompany the meal are similar to those which are popular at the state fair. Be sure to ask for the malt vinegar! Our server was the only low light. Slow, rude, and inattentive. The restaurant was very empty, so there really was no reason. I am happy to read that others had good service. We will likely try again.

Every thing that I've had here has been outstanding! The onion rings are thick and were fried to golden perfection!! I personally haven't had the Scottish eggs but everyone that had them said they were to die for. Highly recommend this tap house. Service was excellent!!

I have been here three or 4 times when in Apple Valley visiting relatives. This is a brew pub and BBQ place. First of all they have a nice selection of beers - not hugely extensive but you will be able to find something you like. Secondly, for food go with what they know and that is the BBQ. They have a decent selection of various style of BBQ, focusing mainly on pork - which is as it should be. I have found that beyond the meat though things start to fall off. The fries and sides are just ok, nothing special. I have not had desert so cannot comment on that. This is a pretty big cavernous place. Looks like a rocking happy hour crowd and it is pretty loud around dinner time so be prepared to join the hubbub. Just make sure your party is ready for beer and BBQ and you will all be happy with the choice.

I've been here a bunch of times but mostly for drinks. I came in here on a Monday because they have free kids meals on Mondays and I had just gotten off a plane and picked up my kiddo and I was starving. We sat there for about 10 minutes before our server came over. We watched people who got seated after us get their orders taken. Finally he came over and didn't offer much of an apology for the long wait. I ordered the steak salad and he got a cheeseburger. It took forever to get our drinks and then our food came. My steak was overcooked and extremely well done. When he asked how our food was and I told him about the steak, he was like, oh, but it's okay right? and then moved on to the next table. I don't know if he was new or just not familiar with customer service, but that's NOT good service. I ate it, because I was starving. My kiddo said his burger was just okay. Overall a disappointing experience.

Good beer selection and solid happy hour menu makes The Valley Tap House a great place to hang out with co-workers after a long day at the office. I've only really been there for drinks and appetizers, so I can't comment much on the regular menu (though I did have lunch a few times when it was the old Majors). As far as happy hour goes, they have a pretty diverse menu which includes mussels, shrimp, pork belly, walleye bites, cheese curds, cheese fries and Thai egg rolls - not your typical bar food. But alas, my fallback are their wings - perfectly seasoned and deep-fried plump drumettes and flats (rounds and flats?) in a few different varieties. I've tried them all and I prefer the dry rub, probably because they are not as messy. They also offer some of their drafts as two for one specials during happy hour! What a deal!! The place can get pretty busy during happy hour, so be patient! If the weather is cooperating the patio is a great place to hang out as well. TIP: Play the pull tabs! Ok, so you're probably not going to win, but they're fun and are a great way to support local youth hockey! Oh, and don't forget to tip the hockey mom working the booth.

My wife and I had a voucher here so I ordered a big time IPA for my first beer and then we ordered the pizza. Our waitress was super awesome. I got what I knew would be awesome from their other restaurants, the pulled meat was amazing on my sandwich. The side salad was perfect to. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stasrs is because I ordered no cheese and my pizza came with cheese. My wife wiped it off and kept the toppings, like she often does, Amazing! Overall, a 3.5 place, but you have to go 4 if it is cool and the servers are great. On a side note. If your servers suck, that is an automatic minus one from the yelp. The servers are awesome, The beer is good. Life is good~

We just left after having our Sunday Brunch. We thought we'd try something different today but we learned our lesson! We got there about 10:30 and it was not very busy so we thought we'd be in and out. Wrong! We ordered our Sticky Bun and entrees and it took about 20 minutes to get our microwaved, dry, way too much marscapone bun. Was not worth it! Then 25 minutes later we got our food. The meal was actually good, so that's why 2 stars! I asked to talk to a manager and explained how we waited 45 minutes for our food and that tables who ordered way after Us were getting their food before us, how awful the sticky bun was and how disappointing the service was. I got the half hearted apology and that was it. We will not go back! Lesson learned.

I work nearby so Valley Tap House is in our usual lunch lineup. The lunch specials are a deal! I usually get two pit tacos or the bowl of chili. We've also had large group gatherings in their back room and in the main seating area. Their service has always been good. The food and drinks have always been right on.

Great menu options for Brunch! However, I was totally disappointed in the Biscuits & Gravy-Biscuits were hard and terrible!

There are two things I like about this place I liked their pit beef. I liked the Surly Furious. My wife ate a cashew chicken salad sandwich that was acceptable but not noteworthy. The beer selection is ok, but nothing special. We didn't like the old fries or the slow service. (Hint to management - have more than one server working for a restaurant this big). My overall impression is that it is a place that could be good, but they are just going through the motions.

Great staff and atmosphere, but bad food. We had a couple of their pit sandwiches, and not only tasted terrible, but made us sick.

I have tried twice now to love Valley Tap House but it's just "meh". If you're coming simply for beer, cool! You'll enjoy yourself. If you're coming for the seemingly unique food menu, you may not want to bother. I have tried "pit" everything here along with various appetizers. The menu summaries trick your mind into thinking things sound delicious. It builds the excitement.... Hypes it up... Then when your food arrives and you take a bite you don't get it. While they don't advertise a magic show, the illusion of tasty goodness from words to your plate is a good one. You may feel duped on your feast but there is always the extensive beer menu. They do allow sampling of beer before committing to that inevitable tall. Also, DO bug the servers for recommendations on beer as I'm 2 for 2 now on recos from them. I wish for Valley Tap House to succeed but they need to get the food together. People love beer. People love good food with beer. You have the beer. Make the good food and get the people.

I love Bloody Mary's and I saw a picture that somebody posted on Yelp of their Bloody Mary. The picture had a pickle, olives, chunk of cheese, and a piece of bacon for a garnish! I ordered the Bloody Mary and it only had three green olives thrown on top for a garnish, that was it. The Bloody Mary had good flavor but it cost $8!! I've never had a Bloody Mary cost so much unless they really outdo themselves with garnishes so my drink was completely not worth it. Our table shared the walleye bites. They were on happy hour for half price. They were alright but I definitely wouldn't pay full price for them. I ordered the Buffalo Pit Pork sandwich and I wouldn't recommend it unless you like fatty pork. We ordered a chocolate cake and it was not good. It was very plain and cold. So to conclude the food was mediocre but I enjoyed the atmosphere and our server was very nice and tentative. I would maybe go back and try a different entrée but not anytime soon.

Food is average and slightly overpriced. Everything on the menu is good, but nothing is really great. Nice outdoor patio though.

The food is good. The wings are different than most bar wings so that is fun. Blue cheese dressing with real blue cheese chunks. The scotch eggs are yummy! Really good dipping sauce for them. The beer specials for happy hour are good and it lasts until 7pm which is great! Unfortunately, both times I was there, they were out of 4-5 beers, and of course, all of my favorites were gone. Service is a different story. Now I have only eaten at the bar so the bartenders are all I can comment on. They are cool. Wayyyy too cool for me. When I sat at the bar, it took a good 5 minutes for them to notice I was there. And it wasn't like I was playing on my phone. I would watch every bartender walk by trying to make eye contact. I must have been invisible. I asked to try a kind that I hadn't ever had. They brought me my tiny glass and then ignored me for another 5 minutes. Then I ordered. I have never sat at a bar where your glass can sit there empty for 10 minutes before they ask if you want another. Aaaaaaaaand another 5 minutes for the bill. At the end of the day, I will not willfully choose to go here again. I would rather go to a dive where they act like they appreciate your business.

Do you remember Spudsters fries located in Riverplace in the 80's? VTH gave me flashbacks of how amazing those fries used to be. Sadly that is the only good thing I can say. The menu has some great sounding sandwiches but after trying 4 of them, they are all average at best. The pit burger is a hamburger patty with "pit beef" (shredded) on top. Server never asked for my burger temp; so they use frozen patties. Comes topped with horseradish sauce which needed a lot more because it was extremely dry. Server didn't check back for nearly 15 min after being served, and I lost my appetite in the meantime. A guy across from us gave the waitress a mega bitch face so the service isn't stellar. I like the fries so much that I'd possibly try a 5th sandwich; but for nothing more than a casual lunch. If you check out the photos of VTH on Yelp I'm posing next to the pit burger that is 6" thick and is a challenge for any mouth.

The food here is really good! The prices are a little higher than necessary for the burbs but that's okay I like sit in the summertime we can sit outside on the porch so there is smoking on the porch so if you have kids with you keep that in mind .in kids eat free on Mondays!

This place is a great place to go with a group of people with a big appetite. The portion sizes are crazy huge and the BBQ and pit items are incredibly delicious. They have a lot of beer selections on tap and the service was great. It's a tick loud in this place so don't bring a first date here unless you are seriously into watching a game and don't want to talk anyway. Enjoy!

Called to order a Reuben for dinner for pick up. The young lady on the phone was rude and acted like she didn't know what a Reuben was. She was also very snotty when I asked her what choices I had for sides. I went with the mashed potatoes. Got my food and walked to my car in the pouring rain. Good thing I had my dome shaped, clear, see-thru umbrella. I love this umbrella! I get a lot of stares when I use this umbrella. Looked inside my take-out bag and the teeny bopper who handed me my food forgot to include silverware. Super annoying. Arrived home and the mashed potatoes had some sick sauce all over it. They should really tell you there's sauce on it in case you don't want it or maybe just want it in a portion cup on the side. The Reuben, itself, was disgusting. The bread was super soggy. Don't waste your money. Go to Cooper in St. Louis Park. Best Reuben ever!

I feel comfortable here and they have good beer. Happy hour apps are a good value, too. The patio is spacious and servers and bartenders are nice enough. Overall it is a place we frequent for a quick beer or two and will return.

I've eaten here a few times, haven't been too terribly impressed with the place honestly. The food is decent and in good portions, but all three visits I have taken here have included rude and inattentive waiters/waitresses. Having to wait 10 minutes for drinks is common, and the waiting staff conveys a message that they'd love to be anywhere else in the world. Also, the atmosphere isn't quite comfortable for me. The lighting in the dining room is really harsh and abrasive and there feels to be little separation between tables, as in they're too close or not any barriers between them. Overall, decent food but not worth the time or the money for the experience.

Went out for a date night (which are pretty rare with a little one); we've been wanting to try this place since it opened but were often turned off by the wait time. This time we called ahead for reservations but really wouldn't have needed them as we went early enough. Ordered from "The Pit" and it was messy; some wet wipes would have been nice but the restrooms would do too. I was stoked for some brussel sprouts but they never came. :( Hubby wasn't too impressed with the beer choice, but you win some and you lose some.

I have to say that I am so impressed with the fact that an actual GOOD restaurant has come to Apple Valley. I have waited a long time for this. I had the Margarita pizza, and I loved it. I have had Margarita pizza in so many places I cannot even count. Usually I am disappointed, but this was great. I also tried the Haggerty Potatoes. I thought they were good, but for some reason in my mind they were supposed to be mashed. (My mistake, I read the menu wrong) The service was pretty good. There could have been more servers, but the ones that were there were working hard. I love what they did to the inside, and I love that they have a patio. Coming from Austin Texas, where every single place has a patio, it is nice to have one to sit on here. I would seriously give this place 5 stars if they made the patio more private by maybe putting up some lattice between the posts, and some festive lights to help block out the view of Home Depot and the other stupid chain restaurants. I want when I am sitting on a patio sipping great drinks, eating great food, to pretend I am somewhere secluded, not on County Road 42 across from the storage place and Home Depot. SO please please please. Take the next step, and make this patio secluded and private, and you have the best place in Apple Valley to enjoy a great summer day or night. Great job guys! Keep up the great work, and I hope you make it here! Apple Valley has waited long enough to get good food.

It looks beautiful as you enter. Great tap beer selection. I love that a lot of the menu dishes are more of a upscale take on the typical bar food, however prices are slightly higher than what I think they can and should be for this place. The prices & a few cooking issues, such as over cooking my chop and undercooking my risotto caused me to rate this only a 3 star. If they can manage to drop the food prices roughly by $2 to $3 a plate and fix the cooking issues, I would place this restaurant into at least a 4 star and possible a 5 star restaurant. I would recommend this place but with reservations.

Had a Groupon so the family and I went to dinner here last night. Didn't tell the server about the Groupon until paying if that factors into anything or not. Samoeun (Sam), our server was so upbeat I thought he might do a cartwheel right at our table. I ordered the Pit Beef sandwich and he suggested getting the Pit burger because it was just as good at a better value. He was right! Also, he had a great understanding of dining with young kids, asking us if he should get the kids order in right away. Let me tell you, that's rare. Seperately, this place has gotten better with the gluten free training and has a seperate menu/list of gluten free options. However, just as Greg H. mentioned back in June, they could use a couple of more beers on list. I only mention this because the competition has started increasing their beer options. Just the same, 5 stars for tasty food and great service.

Having moved to the area from Chicago, I was pleasantly surprised by the Tap House, for many reasons: -Great atmosphere -Friendly servers / bartenders -Awesome music (no lame top 40 stuff, I'm talking Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cat Power, Sonic Youth, etc...). That never happens in the 'burbs! -Large, ever-changing tap selection -Happy hour until 7, meaning if you're schlepping from work in the city, you can actually make it during the week and have not one, but two Surly Cynics. -Good veggie options like the black bean sliders and portobello sandwich. Definitely a new local favorite.

Been here twice. The first had ok service and bad food. Second time, tried happy hour and left after 15 min when no one acknowledged we were there. Disappointed since the happy hour deals looked great. Both times seems like not enough staff to handle the volume. Also felt like an ice box it was so cold.

This Pit Pork Sandwich is awesome and the fries are good too! The sandwich was spicy as it has habanero peppers on it. I also tried the BLT salad which was good with think chunks of bacon but I thought it had too much cheese. The salad was rich tasting I think from all the cheese at the same time it was still good though. We showed up on a Sat at 5:30pm and there was a 30 min wait. Next time I will make reservations. I liked the barn wood on the walls and the wood floor but they need to put more stuff on the walls. Service was good and we will be back!

We took my mom out for dinner, I called in the reservations at about 6:05 for a 6:30 for a table for 5, it's a good thing I did it was pretty packed on a Wed evening. We were seated immediately. We asked the server a basic food question she did not know the answer to, seeing as how I don't recall the question not going to hold it against her. Otherwise she knew the menu pretty well, told us her favorites, was generally able to describe things such as what kind of soup base does the halibut soup have, etc. Oh, I asked if they have fresh brewed iced tea she said 'no' so I went with water. My mom ordered one and turns out if it's not fresh brewed I would not have known the difference. Jack (11) had the chili, he likes hot spicy foods, this was a bit on the hot side for him, it's pretty think with their pit beef a decent portion served with toast. My daughter had the Bacon Cheeseburger/fry's, she loved it. My mom had the fish and chips, it was great Jack and I ate over half of it. I ordered the Spicy Italian, I did not see that they added pit ham on the bottom of the pit beef which threw me, I was thinking they started making a Cuban then decided to go with the Spicy Italian until I reviewed the menu. Personally I think it's an error to put ham on the Spicy Italian but, it was great. Fantastic fry's, I am not a fry person but, these were exceptional. Kathren had the portabella, which she said was very good but, I did not actually taste it so I can't vouch for it. We ordered the Appetizer Onion Rings to be served with dinner, their were more than enough for added variety. Nice atmosphere, good service, bathrooms were great (well I only checked the Men's). We sat in the dining room area. The jukebox on the wall was cool but, only had seconds to check it out. Ample parking but, had a heck of a time figuring out how to get back onto 42 for some reason.

Went with a larger group and everyone was pleased! We were greeted by the hostess who acted as though we were an inconvenience and was really snotty. We had made reservations and were meeting our group. I gave her the name the reservation was under and she said she didn't have that reservation, and are we SURE we called? I look around the corner and, hey, there's my group. Imagine that. She sighed and said to just go back. Other than her, the atmosphere is really pleasant - it's open and not too loud and there was lots of seating. The tables were comfortable. I had the halibut tacos, and they were pretty good (I know, I should have ordered a burger or a steak). The rest of our table ordered burgers and sandwiches and steaks. The sandwiches were SO TALL that they couldn't be eaten like a sandwich - leaning tower of Blistered Hipster! Everyone was pleased with their food. Drinks were good, menu selection was good, waiter was really nice. Took a while to get our check, but by then the place was PACKED. I plan to go back again. Hopefully there is a nicer hostess on staff!

Thrilled to have this great addition in Apple Valley! I went on Open Table on Tuesday & reservations were slim pickings for Friday night; either 5:30p or 10:30p! My family and I got there right around 5:30p & the restaurant was already crowded. We were seated right away furthest from the bar which was nice since the bar was really loud! The menu is huge! Happy hour goes until 7p, so we ordered 2-4-1 beers & the dry-rub chicken wings for half off. The chicken wings were pretty spicy, but really good. I wanted the beer mussels but they were unfortunately out! So I ordered the thai chicken pizza. My parents ordered the philly & the bacon blue burger. My pizza was super delicious & there was plenty left to take home with me. Both my parents loved their choices & the obscene amount of fries that came with. The menu is really reasonably priced! Our bill was right around $45 for three people. I'd definitely recommend making reservations since it continuously got more & more crowded as the night went on. Check it out!

This is my go to spot for a beer. I think its easily the best happy hour in the south suburbs with their $3 select taps and cheap eats. The Tap house burger is good and comes with some great hand-cut fries. Their pizzas are a great steal during happy hour ($5.95) the Thai Chicken pizza is a gem. I also suggest the Korean wings and their grits.

I like most of the appetizers and the food is definitely fresh. The flavor of the sandwiches is fairly bland. I usually sit in the bar area. What I don't care for is the loud rap/swearing music, it is over the top. Days are better than the evenings. The staff are really not very professional. I like the beer selection, I will still give them another shot during the day. Get some uniforms, Be courteous to your guests and spice up the food.

I've been here a few times already... I like the new layout, and really love the new colors and decor! Soooo much better then the old Major's that used to reside at this location. Country kinda bar... Juke Box by the door, bingo nights, Southern barbecue style food. I'm a fan for sure. My most recent visit, I ordered a turkey sloppy Joe's... Sometimes they can be a hit or miss depending on where you go... However, it definitely passed my taste test! Crisp bun, fresh meat, hot and served fairly quickly, the french fries that came with it were also delicious. Prices are very reasonable here. Our server was very quick, maybe a little too quick... The tab came out pretty fast! haha... Oh well, new place, new servers... Next time we'll just let them know we plan on sticking around for a while!

Couldn't decide between three and four stars, but since the second visit was better than the first, I went with four. The burgers were very good and HUGE! You can split easily. The homemade pickles were top notch. Delish fries. I could have had a vat of those. We did try the beef, but whoa--not my thing. WAY too fatty and rare for me (I overheard someone else ordering it well done, so I did as well). I understand that it is just the style of beef, so I think it's one of those "Your Mileage My Vary" things. Service was better second time too. First visit was the first week they were open, so I know they were still working out the kinks. I think this is going to be a very popular place during the summer! Younger crowd--singles, etc.

This is everything the south metro has been missing. While total experience is between a 4 and a 5 it blows away any burger/sandwich/pub/bar within 20 miles. We were an interesting challenge for this place. One vegetarian, two wheelchairs, one child who can only eat soft food, and nobody who eats red meat. The entire restaurant is accessible (a novel experience). It has a similar menu to the Lyndale Taphouse with a distinct upscale suburban vibe. The dining area and bar are separated, there are 30+ items on tap, and the food is excellent (look for the Happy Hour specials 1/2 price appetizers and $3 taps). We had Crispin on tap, hot salty pretzels, and onion rings for a starter. The onion rings here are my new favorite. The flaky crust and buttermilk dipping sauce were so delicious. Cheesy grits side for our youngest (yum!), a Cuban (it was a ton of meat and, while I prefer more of a panini style it was excellent), turkey club (tasty bacon and a generous portion of avocado), and a greenway burger (easily one of the top three vegetarian burgers I have ever tasted). The fries were fresh cut and perfectly fried and seasoned -- magnificent. For dessert we shared doughnut holes. They were fresh and a little heavy on the cinnamon for me but easily shared amongst the group. All that food and the total bill (including tip) was $60.

I wish I would have looked on here first and I would have just got the lunch special burger. Instead I got Georgia Pit. I was really excited about the possibility of the Georgia mustard and peach slaw but I was a disappointed when it arrived. The meat was ok had a good bit of heat which I liked but the mustard and peach notes were absent. The real issue here was that there was just way too much sauce. I'm assuming it was from the slaw, as I said the mustard wasn't really present but there was literally a pool of liquid on my plate saturated the fries as well as the bun leaving me with a disintegrated mess. Could have just been the sandwich or maybe an off day, would go back again and try something else but its not a priority.

This was our second time in. We walked through the door and were immediately seated. The hostess was dressed inappropriately and appeared to be quite tacky. As for the food, we ordered pretzel appetizers. They came out steaming hot and were consumed in seconds. As for the Turkey Club and Burger my wife and I ordered....the buns were basted in an oily substance and grilled. It leaves a horrible aftertaste in your mouth. Why don't they use real butter? I have to say, the only reason we would ever go back is their beer selection. As for the food, I could leave it. I think the Tap Houses ratings are high, as it is relative to the competitors in town...which isn't much better.

Wow, what a great find! My party enjoyed fish 'n' chips, burgers, and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Everyone liked what they ordered. We were also impressed with their selection of craft beers on tap. Great atmosphere that reminds me of breweries I frequented when I lived in Chicago. Finally, for parents like me, it was very kid friendly (at lunchtime, anyway).

Not impressed. My husband went there the first week of opening. While the place was packed, he received fabulous service and attention from the blond bartender with the tattoo on her arm. Fast forward a week and he picked me up from the airport and we decided to check it out since he had a good experience. We are always interested in trying new places, especially in AV which lacks non-chain restaurants. The menu and beer list are certainly appealing and right up our alley. It was 4 PM on a Monday. Not busy at all. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes while blond bartender walked by a minimum of ten times and didn't even acknowledge us - the same bartender who was so very attentive when he was there himself. She definitely saw us and we were completely ignored. We tried to get her attention and even though she saw our attempts, she continued to ignore us. Have to wonder if blond bartender only serves single men because those were the only other people around the bar, which was only half filled. Husband went over to the other end of the bar and asked her to serve us. She said she would be by in a few minutes and then continued to ignore us. I have never received such dismissive treatment in a restaurant/bar in my entire life. This was no oversight. She intentionally ignored us. Multiple times. I find it funny how she was so nice and attentive when my husband was there alone, but with his wife, completely ignored. We were about to leave when a manager came to the bar and I asked what it took to get service. He said she'd be by in a minute. I told him we had been waiting ten minutes and she walked by numerous times completely ignoring us. He immediately sent Tiny/Dave to take care of us, who just happened to come on shift, but he did not seem to care that other bartender was completely unattentive. I was also bothered that he didn't pick up on the fact we had to ask him to get us service... and his answer was she'd be by in a minute. This was not a busy time. She appeared to have more important things to do... .socializing with other serving staff than to serve us. It was so blatant. Tiny is a very nice guy and he totally salvaged the visit. We were about to leave. We told him how we were ignored, he apologized and gave us a free appetizer. He was attentive and friendly. We would not go back if it wasn't for him. Husband ordered the Pork Belly Appetizer and I ordered the Mini pot pies, which were tasty, but extremely undercooked. The dough was only half cooked and runny on the inside. The Pork Belly was very good and we were pleased with the unique menu. We didn't feel we could complain since Tiny gave us a free app, the sausage slices, which were VERY tasty. We enjoyed the beer selection as we like to try new beer. We were looking forward to a place like this opening in AV and were impressed with the menu. The service was horrible until we spoke up and one of our apps was completely undercooked. Even with all that, we left full after 2 very tasty beers each and a $20 bill for happy hour prices. We left Tiny a $10 tip. He deserved it. I hope he told blond bartender she majorly screwed up. We will give the place another chance, but that blond bartender will not get one red cent tip from us. She was rude and completely indifferent as if we didn't exist. The only reason we will give this place another chance is because of the beer selection and the fact Tiny was so nice and went above and beyond. I don't normally give bad reviews. For a new restaurant and bar, they have a long way to go. The manager is not very responsive and the food needs improvement in terms of cooking time. Love the beer selection. I worry the attitude here is that an urbanish restaurant has opened in AV Suburbia and that service is not important. I sincerely hope it improves. Ernies, a new restaurant and bar in Burnsville, does not have the beer selection or the menu, but the staff and service are top notch. I much prefer a place like that and my business will go there a million times more than AV Tap House. Having said ALL that, someone posted upthread about loud music. This is an urban type bar and restaurant. We did not experience loud music and there are many other family friendly restaurants in AV without the music. This place has a certain vibe that is not necessarily family friendly. If you don't like music, go to Ruby Tuesday's next door. . Complaining about the music being too loud *during happy hour* is ridiculous.

Diverse menu in suburbia. The food was pretty darn good, and the patio, which we didn't take advantage of, looked like a good time. It's nice to have this variety, local place in suburbia.

Last night (a Friday) we decided to give Valley Tap a try and we were all glad we did. The Good: - It was very busy when we showed up at 6:30, but because of the heat we were able to grab a table outside and get a few drinks - The outside patio area and bar are nicely laid out and includes a firepit for days under 100 degrees - We made the tail end of happy hour (4-7 M-F) which was awesome because 2-4-1 taps and they have a good selection (it's also 241 rail drinks and 1/2 price apps) - The menu was diverse and it was almost too easy to find 5 things that I really wanted to try -Even though they were busy the service was on point and we were not left wanting anything for long The Bad: -Their specialty, "Pit Meat", I didn't think was anything special or unique -The interior (left over from majors) is laid out a little weird, though I couldn't place my finger on what bothered me -Because of the all wood floors it can get a little loud TL:DR All four people in my group liked their food, liked their beer and will go back.

Great place with great food. They are a bit different than the typical bar restaurant. They offer slow cooked shredded or chunked meat sandwiches and include it in their pizza selections as well as other dishes like tacos. All of it is very good. I recommend getting any of the pit sandwiches in whatever meat choice you like.

Being a fan of the Lyndale tap in Uptown I was excited to find out they were opening a second location mere blocks from my office (suburban blocks, but blocks none the less). I wouldn't venture too far from the Pit beef dishes. Though there are great things on the menu, the Pit beef/pork shines so bright I wouldn't recommend anything else. The few times I've been here the service hasn't been that great and the food has been a little inconsistent (good but inconsistent) but due to the volume of people while I was there, I am going to attribute that to growing pains of a newly opened restaurant. One thing I think I'm most excited about (worthy of 4 stars alone) is something this area has been lacking for a while - a great after work happy hour. 2 for 1's and great appetizers!

My son ttok us here for my Birthday , as this is his new fav for sandwiches and apps. We got there for happy hour specials on drinks and apps, which I reccomend. Our young little watress was great , explaining everything to us and attentive without hovering. Apps came before meal and we had the pork belly app and the onion rings. Great start , and I consider myself a onion ring expert. These were some of the best, but I have a hard time paying 9-10 bucks for onions. Our meal came and the sandwiches and fries were all great and better than expected. Great portions and nice selection . I now know why he likes this place. By this time , I am completely stuffed , and my wife goes behind my back and tells our waitress it's my B-day. Our waitress brings out about a half of a chocolate fudge cake with plates and a knife . After divying this thing up and packing it in , we were about ready for someone to roll us out of this place. I would have given it five stars , but I was sooo miserable on the way home.........due to my glutiny. All in all, great food, good value, and great service. Sorry I can't remember our waitresses name, she made it a great experience. Next time we're in the cities , we'll be back!!! Slammer!!!

When you first walk in the door - you can tell a lot of remodeling was done since the MAJOR's closed down. But staring right at you when you check in with the hostess is a photo of woman in a bikini among a bunch of cows - not a friendly vibe one wants to see as your first experience. However - the food is great - especially the burgers and variet of types of burgers, beer and availability of lamb and turkey. It would get a four star if they would take down the Hooters print when you walk in.

Read the rating details. The graph shows they have gone down hill over the past month.

Loved it, great happy hour specials, and a nice patio, but I expected more types of beer for a "taphouse". I will definitely be going back.

I have been here a few times, it shares its owners with the Lyndale Tap House so if you are familiar you can expect a similar experience. If this place were based on tap beers alone I would give it 5 stars. The happy hous specials are good, and they take place daily both early and late. Where I drop to 3 stars is the quality of the food and service. In my opinion it is a little pricey for what you get (expect 11-15 for sandwiches), but you should not go home hungry unless maybe you are a professional eater. I also had an experience here where my burger took 50 min before arriving, granted that situation was taken care of in the form of comping my bill. Honestly I really want to like the place more. I read the decription on the menu and find myself thinking things sound delicious, but when I get the actual food I feel somewhat let down. The pit beef is their specialty, but I find it bland compared to the pit beef I do at home. I have enjoyed the burgers, and fish and chips. If you are out in the south metro it may be a good place to try, and if you are looking for happy hour specials you will most likely find yourself even more satisfied. Satisfied is where I leave it though, I have not been blown away.
